Gardening Tours
We have a range of garden tours starting with the world famous Keukenhof Gardens for the ultimate springtime experience. See the famous tulips of Amsterdam, as well as daffodils, narcissi and hyacinths in every colour imaginable across some 80 acres of landscaped gardens, lakes and streams, while further wonderful displays of orchids and lilies are to be found in the indoor pavilions. In the same tour, pay a visit to Het Loo, one of Europe's finest formal gardens.
In France, there's Monet’s famous water Garden in Giverny, where in 1890, inspired by the tranquil scenes from Japanese prints, the artist diverted a river to form a pond, planted willows and bamboo on the shores, filled the pond with water lilies and then crossed it with a wooden footbridge. For gardening experts and amateurs, a highlight on the gardening calendar is the biannual plant fair at the Chateau de Courson near Paris.
Closer to home are the Gardens of Cornwall. Explore the working kitchen garden, sub-tropical jungle and lost valley in the Lost Gardens of Heligan, one of the most mysterious estates in England, covered in bramble and ivy until a hurricane in 1990 uncovered a tiny room with a motto etched into one of the walls – “come ye not here to sleep or slumber”. Pay a visit to the wooded valley garden of Glendurgan, with views over Helford River and the coastline. The warm sheltered setting creates an ideal climate for exotic flowers, trees and shrubs and an amazing laurel maze, as it gently drops to the tranquil sandy beach and rock pools of the village of Durgan. Then carry onto the magical Trebah Gardens; this dramatically beautiful Cornish ravine garden is 25 acres of sub-tropical paradise running from the 18th century house, through cascading water gardens, glades of 100 year old tree ferns, ponds of giant koi carp and canopies of rhododendrons down to a private secluded beach on the Helford river. In contrast is the more contemporary yet equally unforgettable Eden Project, with the largest indoor rainforest in the world, and plants collected from across the globe, nurtured in artificial biomes. Finally there are the more genteel flower shows of RHS Malvern, Chelsea or Tatton Park, all sure to delight any gardening enthusiast.
